Chan Chal Kali

I am Chanchal Kali. My name “Chanchal” means :naughty. But thats quite opposite from my real nature, actually I am very shy and anxious towards others. I was born on December 2, 1986. This year 2023, I became 36 years old. I weigh 7,937 lbs. I had a handsome husband and beautiful child back at India. We were a happy family. But they took me away from my family and sold me to another person for riding people and carrying other heavy loads on my back. I still remember them to this day but by now I can move on from this cruel past. Although there isn’t a day, I am not missing my family, my life has been so much easier since I came to live here, at Sapana Village Lodge in the company of good elephant friends. They are my new family now.

I get to have a wonderful bath in the river, play with my friends and graze in the jungle every day. I am very timid and shy and also scared of stormy nights. So my caretaker Mr. Bharat looks after me, comforting me. He feeds me tasty food such as bananas and sugarcanes. My favourite thing to do is interact with humans from the Lodge when they come to feed me many tasty fruits and vegetables. You can come visit me at my shelter near Sapana Lodge. I would love to have your company, we can chat together and share our own stories. We might become best pals for life.
