HAPPY GIANTS IN SAPANA VILLAGE LODGE
Through the collaborative efforts of Sapana Village Lodge and Direct Aid Nepal, we have established a chain-free shelter for our rescued elephants. The lodge is dedicated to practicing ethical elephant activities aimed at caring for these majestic giants.
In essence, our guiding principle is “No Chain, No Pain, and No Ride.” Guests can enjoy various programs, such as the Sunrise Walk and Breakfast with Giants, treating giants by feeding them fruit and vegetable baskets, and engaging in a friendly bathing session. The lodge encompasses a vast grassland area with a flowing river, providing a picturesque setting to observe elephants enjoying baths, grazing, or playing in the mud.
We have curated some wonderful ethical activities for you to experience with our elephants. Spend the entire day with these majestic creatures by joining our Elephant Day Care Program. There is no need to ride; instead, relish the joy of being with our happy elephants..
- Start the day with a bush walk in the early morning observing our elephants graze, pull down branches, and just being elephants.
- In appropriate weather the elephants enjoy bathing; they are graceful swimmers and fun to watch.
- Join our Mahouts (Caretakers) for cleaning the enclosures, making elephant food (Kuchi), feeding them from the respecting distance
- A jeep will take you and the Mahouts to collect elephant food an adventure in itself and the elephants love what you collect.
