Lucky Kali
I am Lucky Kali. My name needs no introduction. Luck is always by my side. I was Nepal’s First private Retired Elephant!! I was born on May 21 1957. This year 2023, I became 65 years old. I am still single and searching for a husband who loves me. Before coming to Sapana Village Lodge I lived in India where they used me for carrying peoples on my back, giving long rides to them and carrying wood and logs. I was also brought to Sapana Village Lodge by the owner of the Lodge: Mr. Dhruba Giri. It has been 4 years since I started living in Sapana Lodge. Here I can relax and enjoy the beautiful natural environment. I get to graze everyday in the jungle with my friends at 6-10 am in the morning and from 1:30-5 pm. We can bath in the river 3 times a day! This is so refreshing, especially on hot days. When I am not in the field, I am resting in the shade in my shelter at Sapana Lodge. My caretaker , also called a mahout, is Ratan Mahato. Life has been relaxing and peaceful ever since I came to Sapana Lodge.

Bananas and Sugarcanes are my favorite food. The team of caretakers also groom my nails every 4 to 5 months. I am a very friendly elephant and also quite fearless : I do not fear windy and stormy weather. I love the company of people and guests when they arrive here for the programs such as Elephant feeding, Elephant candy making, Elephant Bush walk.
I am delighted to be at Sapana Village Lodge and thankful to Dhruba, Lena, Donna and their organizations for bringing me here and giving me a new life in a such a wonderful place. I love the views here where I can be outside in the fields and experience the kindness of other at the same time. You can come and see me at Sapana Village Lodge. I might even share some of my treats with you.
