Our Dream
sustainable tourism and community development
Sustainable, socially responsible tourism that creates lasting benefits for local communities
Dhruba Giri, the dreamer, founder and visionary behind Sapana Village Lodge in Sauraha, Chitwan, Nepal, has an inspiring story, dedication, and a deep commitment to sustainable tourism and community development. Growing up in a small village of Chitwan, Giri was aware of the socioeconomic challenges facing the people in the rural communities.
Driven by a desire to create positive change, he aimed to find ways to uplift his community and improve the lives of those around him. His journey toward entrepreneurship initially started working in various hospitality jobs, learning the industry from the ground up.
An authentic and immersive experience
Over time, he received funds from the Dutch Hummels family, gradually developing the concept for Sapana Village Lodge that would blend hospitality with social impact, respecting both the local culture and the environment.
Community development
His broader vision extends beyond running the lodge—through a separate organisation, Sapana Village Social Impact, he contributes to conservation efforts, improve livelihoods, and promote cultural preservation in Nepal. Through his work Giri seeks to inspire other businesses to adopt similar socially responsible practices that can lead to the overall betterment of society and the environment.
Dhruba Giri's Dreams
Dhruba Giri’s dream revolves around building a more sustainable, socially responsible tourism industry that creates lasting benefits for local communities, all while protecting Nepal's rich natural and cultural heritage.
