“After enjoying your breakfast in Sapana village, embark on a half or full-day bike ride. You will discover many unexplored Tharu places and villages, allowing you to immerse yourself in the countryside life. Your lunch will be prepared by a Tharu family in one of the villages you visit.”

Experience firsthand the Tharu community’s lifestyle in nearby villages. Guests are initially transported from Sapana Village Lodge to a nearby Tharu Village in our vehicle. The program includes river fishing in the Tharu style, followed by a visit to the Tharu Village. The Tharu people are informed in advance about the arriving guests, and they make thorough preparations to welcome them in their unique Tharu style. Welcome drinks, such as Masala Tea, are offered, and guests have the option to get a Henna Tattoo if they desire. During this time, Tharu people share stories, traditions, and the culture of the Tharus.

“Experience the traditional Tharu stick dances at the cultural center. These cultural and traditional dances involve long and short sticks and are performed by local Tharu people. They represent various festivals and ceremonies, leaving you amazed by these war-like dances.”

Learn to fish Tharu style with a nest or a basket while walking through the river. After you return you can share great stories over typical rice wine and Tharu appetizers.

Learn to make your own Tharu decorations while being taught by Tharu women. With a group or individually you make beautiful creations with
your hands on the walls of a Tharu house. The Tharu make these decorations to bring good luck to the family.
By helping them you become, for a little while, part of the family.

The Tharu are known for the many tattoos on their legs and arms, especially the women. It is possible to get your own Tharu tattoo painted by one of the local
women. Don’t worry, ‘tattoos’ are made with henna and will fade and disappear after some days.
