You can participate in local festivals like Dashain, Deepawli, Jitiya and full moon festival in a village. Eat, sing and dance with the local community and become one of them. This is a unique program to show the richness of the Tharu and Nepali culture. Prices differ per group and program. Please contact us for more information and opportunities.

Dashain – A 15 day long festival, the longest festival of Nepal celebrating the goddess Durga. The festival falls around September-Oktober and starts on the bright lunar fortnight and ends on the day of full moon.

Deepawli – Is a 5 day Hindu festival and is also known as the festival of lights. The festival is celebrated between mid-oktober and mid-November. During the festival families perform traditional activities together and small clay lamps are being lighted to signify the triumph of good over evil.

Jitiya – A 3 day long festival that is celebrated in September. During this festival mothers keep a strict fast while thinking of their children. The festival ends with the eating of a variety of food and a special festival delicacy.
